Jay Ellis Shocks Andy Cohen By Revealing He’s Been Slapped Twice By Angry ‘Insecure’ Fans: “People Are Crazy” - lulu

Jay Ellis has been slapped not once, but twice by “crazy” fans triggered by his Insecure character.

The actor made the shocking revelation on Monday night’s (March 3) episode of Watch What Happens Live, telling host Andy Cohen and co-guest Gabrielle Union that “people are crazy.”

“I got slapped at JFK once. I was on a flight to Europe and was going to get Dramamine from one of those turnstiles that has the keychain and all that on it,” Ellis began during the WWHL After Show.

“This woman was standing there and I said, ‘Excuse me.’ And she turned around and just [slapped me]. Literally, full hand, all the way across my face,” he continued, while Cohen pointed out that the attack was “assault.”

According to Ellis, the woman screamed Macaulay Culkin in Home Alone style before apologizing profusely.

“She said, ‘Oh, my God. I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry. You just remind me so much of my ex-boyfriend. I’m so sorry,’ to which I said, ‘Do you hit him too? Because I could understand why he’s your ex-boyfriend,'” Ellis recalled, noting that the “craziest” part was that the woman was a writer for a magazine so “she understood” that he was merely playing a character.

The second time he was slapped by a crazed fan was in a Salt Lake City airport when he was coming home from Sundance Film Festival.

“A woman literally just walked up to me and she was like, ‘Fuck you and everything that you stand for!’ And just slapped me,” he said. “Then she goes, ‘You know you did that girl Isa wrong!’”

Ellis said both incidents left him “in shock,” while Cohen added, “That’s terrible.”

Watch What Happens Live airs Sunday through Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET on Bravo. New episodes are available to stream the next day on Peacock.
