Jax Taylor suffered a falling out with Beau Clark and Stassi Schroeder in May 2022 after he and his now-estranged wife, Brittany Cartwright, backed out of their wedding in Italy at the last minute. Now, nearly three years later, he’s still “scared” to reach out.
Before opening up about his final moments on Vanderpump Rules and his regrets about his last season with the series, Jax, 45, explained his hesitancy to contact Beau, 44, as he shared new details about their feud, confirmed where Brittany, 35, stands with Stassi, 36, and admitted to trying to get the couple to join The Valley.
“I should [reach out]. I’m just nervous and I’m scared a little bit because I just don’t think he wants to see me. It just sucks. And we’re getting older so I’m not scared to say, ‘Hey, I miss the guy.’ So it just sucks,” Jax said while speaking to executive producer Alex Baskin on the March 13 episode of In The Mind of a Man, via Us Weekly.
“We have a couple of mutual friends. And every time I see them I’m like, ‘Hey, can you tell Beau to call me and tell him I miss him. Tell Beau I want him to come to my bar because he would love my bar.’ And he is my friend,” he continued.
According to Jax, tension between him and Beau has been “hanging over” his head for years. Meanwhile, Stassi and Brittany are in a better place.
“I’ve run into Stassi a few times and she’s always like, ‘Hey, I’m so happy for you with the bar.’ She’s always very kind to me. I know she talks to Brittany,” he shared. “I understand they’re upset with me over this wedding situation that I’ve caused.”
Looking back at the moment he and Brittany pulled out of Beau and Stassi’s wedding, which he blamed both on his son Cruz not having a passport and not having a babysitter, Jax admitted to telling a mutual friend he wouldn’t be attending before he told Beau.
“Before I got to tell Beau, his friend Rob told him. And unfortunately, it didn’t come out of my mouth so I don’t know how it was worded. Beau just got really upset and Stassi got really upset,” Jax recalled. “We have apologized. We sent them money. It just was really unfortunate how it all turned out. Was it my fault? Yeah, it was.”
Although Jax is nervous to reach out to Beau, he admitted to wanting him and Stassi on The Valley.
“I just tried and tried and tried and I just can’t get them on … I wish I could weather that freaking storm,” he noted.
During the same episode, also via Us Weekly, Jax reflected on his December 2020 exit from Pump Rules.
“I think my final demise — which put the nail in the coffin for me — is towards the end. Obviously everybody who’s watched the show has always noticed that towards the end I would have a lot of diva moments where I’m like, ‘I’m done, I’m moving to Florida,’” he shared. “I was just heated. There was a lot of arguing and fighting going on as per usual.”
At one specific moment in production, Jax was supposed to film with his castmates at the beach, which he didn’t want to do.
“They wanted us to film at the beach, which was in Malibu. We all live in Hollywood. So I said that we can do the same scene at a park in West Hollywood. Like, why do we need to go to rush hour to get to Malibu to shoot a five-minute scene, which is going to take two hours to get there?” he explained. “I was pulling a diva moment by saying, ‘I’m not going to the beach. We could literally get the same exact conversation that we’re trying to get at the park across the street.’
“I just was not f*cking doing it,” he continued. “I was not going to drive three hours and that’s when I needed a piece of humble pie.”
Years after the season eight incident, Jax confessed to “micromanaging” production as he suspected Bravo probably “had enough” of him at that moment. Alex added that Jax was also “telling other people not to go.”
“That’s what it was. So because that’s what got to us, is you were being a pain in the ass about it and you were saying, ‘I’m not going to go, this is so stupid.’ Then you were texting other people,” Alex revealed. “So then of course, we saw those texts and were like, ‘Can you believe Jax is sabotaging the production?’”
Admittedly, Jax’s attempt at blocking production was a “dumb a** move.”
“I’ve rubbed [the producers wrong] throughout the years. That was just the final straw. They’re like, ‘Listen, he needs a piece of humble pie and he can’t be doing this. He can’t be texting other cast members trying to form a mutiny,’” he shared.
