Jax Taylor addressed if his estranged wife Brittany Cartwright “bamboozled” him to get on Vanderpump Rules, as he revealed what led to their marriage’s demise – and hinted at why men “cheat.”
Throughout the years, some fans have speculated that Brittany was a fan of Pump Rules before she set her sights on Jax in Las Vegas. Though they were fired from the show soon after their wedding, they recently joined its spinoff, The Valley. In the new season, Brittany is getting candid about their separation and divorce. What’s more, she recently went on Watch What Happens Live and shaded his sex skills.
On his “In The Mind of Jax Taylor” podcast, Jax addressed the allegation that Brittany sought him out in Las Vegas and “bamboozled” him to get on Pump Rules.
“I’ve gotten this question so many times over the years, so many times. And I want to say — I hope not,” he said, via @vanderpodrecaps on Instagram. “Her mom knew who I was, but Brittany always told me she never knew who I was.”
Jax said he wants to give Brittany the “benefit of the doubt.”
“But who knows,” he expressed. “I get that question all the time, and sometimes I get into my head about it, but I don’t think she’s that kind of person.”
At one point in the podcast, he was asked what “turn off[s]” make men want to cheat.
“I’m going to give you my opinion. It’s when you get comfortable in a relationship. It’s when you stop the date nights. It’s when the romance is dead. It’s when the conversations are not had. It’s when you stop taking care of yourself,” he said, via @realityops on Instagram. “It’s when you take each other for granted. It’s when you become roommates … It’s when the fighting is getting out of control. There’s more fighting than there is conversation.”
“It’s when you constantly feel like you’re walking on eggshells. It’s when you dread having sex with your significant other,” he went on. “It’s all these things, I can keep going on and on. For me, that’s when a man is going to cheat.”
Jax added that “a lot of this” has “happened to Brittany and I.”
“It becomes weird. It becomes awkward. It becomes like your strangers,” he explained. “And I hate to admit it, but that’s what happened to Brittany and I … And instead of getting the help and the therapy and all that stuff … we just didn’t do that … And I just don’t personally think I am supposed to be in a relationship [or] married.”
“I met Brittany, and I thought, okay, maybe things are going to be different. You know, I love her and I want to be with her. And this is what you should do, you know, and deep, deep, deep down inside, I’ve always known that … I was never the person to get married,” he said. “Brittany wasn’t the problem. I’m the problem … I get bored being in relationships.”
Also, during the same podcast episode, Jax admitted he’s simply not built for marriage.
A question of whether he’ll date again is asked, and Jax responded, “I don’t wanna answer that question because I don’t know. As of right now, absolutely not.”
“The person wasn’t the problem,” he continued. “Like, Brittany wasn’t the problem. I’m the problem … I get bored being in relationships. I don’t wanna be in a relationship. I just don’t like it.”
