Jalen Hurts Victimized by Weird Criticism from Eagles Super Bowl Teammate - suong

Darius Slay obviously did not read Dale Carnegie's book on "How to Win Friends and Influence People".

As he exited the Philadelphia Eagles facility he fired a shot to the bow of former teammate Jalen Hurts by saying Hurts is not an elite quarterback.

Slay said Hurts is not in the upper echelon of quarterbacks with Joe Burrow, Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen.

Hurts is coming off of one of his best seasons as a professional. It was one in which he led the Eagles to the Super Bowl 59 championship.

Hurts went 12-3 last season as a starter. He completed a career best 68.7 percent of his passes and tossed 18 touchdowns against only five interceptions. He did all of that while having Saquon Barkley in the backfield. The Eagles fed Barkley a tremendous amount last season en route to his first 2,000 yard season.

Slay was still not impressed.

"The elite go to the top four guys. That's how I do elites," Slay said. "Elites for me in the quarterback world are Joe Burrow, Mahomes, Lamar and Josh Allen, Those are the elites. They have their own place."

This is the opposite of what Slay said to The Players' Tribune in 2023. His attitude towards Hurts was much different. Perhaps his thoughts on weirdly choosing to victimize his teammate this way soured on Hurts once he was released by the Eagles earlier this week.

"Jalen, he’s been a leader since Day One. Me and Jalen been cool, man," Slay said. "Ever since he stepped his foot in the building, I’ve been a big brother to him."
