It was all Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans on Sunday night at the Caesars Superdome, as they dominated the back-to-back champion Kansas City Chiefs to capture their second Super Bowl in franchise history.
While the entire team performed exceptionally well, the Super Bowl MVP award went to star quarterback Jalen Hurts. Hurts completed 17 of his 22 passes for 221 yards, three total touchdowns, and 72 rushing yards.
Before the game, Hurts turned heads with his eye-catching red and black "Bred" Jordan 1 cleats. However, the NFL has strict rules regarding the color of cleats a player can wear. Players are required to wear black, white, or official team colors on their cleats. Hurts has been fined multiple times this season for not following these guidelines.
While his original cleats didn't meet the official requirements, Hurts decided to make a last-minute wardrobe change, swapping them out for all-white and slightly green Jordan 11 cleats that adhered to the proper protocol.
The fines haven’t really affected Hurts much this season. He has been adamant about wearing what he wants on the field, and while he could’ve made a statement with his cleats this time around, he may have simply opted for a change to something more comfortable during play.
Back in December, after he was fined for wearing mismatched Jordan cleats, the Jordan Brand stepped in with a clear message of support for Hurts, who was facing a $5,628 fine from the NFL.
“We’re paying the fine. You can’t ban greatness,” Jordan Brand said on X.
