The Philadelphia Eagles are defending Super Bowl champs, and the future is bright, too.
ESPN unveiled its "NFL Future Power Rankings" on Monday, and the Eagles took the No. 1 spot there.
But within those rankings, ESPN's Seth Walder made a very bold prediction: The Eagles will trade A.J. Brown by 2027.
"The Eagles will trade wide receiver A.J. Brown before the 2027 season," Walder writes. "It will be a shock -- Brown will be coming off two more seasons of exceptional play and will be considered a major asset for the win-now team that acquires him -- but general manager Howie Roseman will decide to move on and get draft assets for him before Brown's decline sets in."
The 2027 campaign will be Brown's age-30 season.
He has spent the 2022-2024 seasons with the Eagles already after Philadelphia acquired him from the Tennessee Titans.
In three years with the eagles, Brown has played in 47 games. He has 261 catches for 4,031 yards and 25 touchdowns. All three campaigns have featured more than 1,000 yards.
Brown is Jalen Hurts' top target, and that doesn't appear to be changing soon.
But as more young stars on the roster get paydays, and as Brown ages a bit, a trade would begin to seem less and less far-fetched.
It'd be even more shocking to see the Eagles to make such a deal sooner.
But in a couple years? Don't write it off. By then, it might make perfect sense -- at least when you consider someone could see it coming from two years away.
