Is Bravo considering axing the entire Real Housewives franchise, including the Real Housewives of Atlanta? According to a recent source, the implications of Brit Eady’s $20 million lawsuit are perhaps bigger than fans can imagine.
Earlier this season, castmate Kenya Moore unveiled a poster board, while filming, which was labeled, “Who Is This Ho?” The board allegedly featured explicit photos of Brit, though Brit claims they’re false. Kenya was soon asked to stop filming.
A few weeks back, Brit reportedly sued Bravo for sexual harassment and defamation.
According to a report via Radar Online, Bravo’s parent company, NBC, is allegedly thinking about scrapping the entire Real Housewives franchise, as the show is “legally radioactive” amid the lawsuit.
The outlet says her lawsuit involves allegations of emotional distress, defamation, and a hostile work environment amid the controversial incident.
Reporter Rob Shutter was told by a source, “What made Housewives great – the chaos – is now its biggest threat. It’s just lawsuit after lawsuit … The drama made it great. But now it’s a walking lawsuit.”
On Substack, Shutter expressed, “The champagne’s flat, the taglines are tired – and Bravo may finally be done playing hostess.”
An insider close to Brit stated, “She begged to see the photo before it aired. They said no. They wanted drama – now they’ve got court dates.”
NBCUniversal is now allegedly in “full crisis mode.” An exec expressed, “Every cast member’s a legal liability. Bravo has become an embarrassment to NBC news.”
Brit alleged that production willfully “produced, edited, and aired” the footage that could permanently harm her reputation. In legal docs, she also shared that she “did not see the explicit photograph until after certain of these events were aired on Bravo nearly a year later.”
According to Brit, she tried to see the photo before the season aired, but the network denied her requests. She said the producers’ actions were “unwelcome, offensive, and sexualized,” especially given the work climate while filming.
Earlier this month, Brit publicly addressed the controversy on her Instagram.
“As everyone is now aware, I’m not attending the reunion. This was my decision. The events of this season have devastated me, and while I cannot say much right now, I do want to set the record straight about one thing: the graphic sexual photo surrounding the events in [episode five] … That photo was not me,” she said at the time. “As the episode makes clear, I did not see the photo at the time. Rather, I was made aware of the photo being presented at the event, and based on what I was told, assumed that it was somehow a photo of me – which is why I reacted in the way that I did … I do not know who was in that photo, but upon seeing it for the first time recently, I now know it was not me.”
