The New York Rangers organization has been monitoring their top prospect Gabe Perreault as he along with Boston College prepare for another run in the Frozen Four tournament of the NCAA.
The team has expressed that they hope that their star prospect will join the Hartford Wolf Pack after the NCAA tournament comes to an end.
Perreault looking for another deep run in the Frozen Four
The 19-year-old right winger who was drafted by the Rangers in 2023, first round, 23rd overall has been viewed as one of the best prospects the Rangers have in their system.
The son of former NHL player Yanic Perreault, has had a decent season with his team as he has played 36 games, scored sixteen goals with 32 assists for 48 points and has 23 penalty minutes in is a + 30.
According to eliteprospects.com, Perreault has great hands and can see the ice exceptionally well. He also has a high hockey IQ and can put himself in a position for space along with a good shot.
The Rangers have felt that he is ready for the American Hockey League as the team will be ready to sign him to an entry level contract will begin in the 2025-2026 season and will likely be ready for the jump.
Perreault was sought out extensively by other teams
Rangers general manager Chris Drury had received numerous calls from many NHL organisations inquiring about trading for Perreault as the Rangers were looking to change the complexion of their team by doing a remodel over the course of the year.
Drury made it clear to all NHL teams that his top prospect was off limits and that any negotiation or discussion about trading for him was a nonstarter.
With several players on the Rangers organization potentially becoming free agents in the next couple of years, there will certainly be a space for Perreault as he continues to develop his game and prepare himself to play against men and professional hockey players.
Meanwhile, the Rangers are finishing their western road swing and will play against the San Jose Sharks on March 29th at 10:30 PM eastern.
