Rangers' goaltender Igor Sheshterkin called out San Jose Sharks rookie Macklin Celebrini after he derailed a chance for Shesterkin to get a goalie goal during their game.
The Rangers netminder was clearly annoyed and only half joking when he made the comment that the former 2024 first round pick should be in school as most NHL hours would allow that goal to go in as a goalie goal is extremely rare.
The Rangers ended up defeating the Sharks 3-2 as both teams continue to go in opposite directions in the standings.
Celebrini has been learning the ways of the NHL since he emerged this year after being selected first overall in the 2024 entry draft.
He arrives on a team that is devoid of talent and is continuing to rebuild their roster as the Sharks have a cupboard of rookies that is filling up nicely.
Celebrini has played seven games this season and has three goals, 1 assist for 4 points.
Shesterkin on the other hand, has exceptionally well with the Rangers as the team continues to rise in the standings and looks much like the team, they were last year.
It's also clear that his current contract situation is not affecting his game as he continues to be professional, sharp and focused on helping the Rangers have a successful season and helping the team push towards the new year.
The Rangers will continue their western road swing where they will face off now against three Western Canadian teams after shutting out the Seattle Kraken 2-0.
Their next stop will be on November 19th where they will go to play against Rick Tocchet and his Vancouver Canucks.
Game time will be at 10:00 PM eastern.
