It may have seemed sudden — because in many ways, it was. But for Lindsay Hubbard, the decision to end her relationship with Turner Kufe wasn’t a reaction to one dramatic event. It was a quiet process, building over time, long before she ever said the words out loud.
In Part 2 of the Summer House Season 9 reunion, Lindsay stunned both cast and audience when she calmly revealed that she and her boyfriend — and the father of her daughter, Gemma — had decided to "pause their romantic relationship."
With her signature composure, Lindsay still had kind words for Turner’s role as a father: “He’s actually better than I ever expected.” But when asked why the two weren’t living together, she didn’t hesitate: “We’re just focused on being the best parents we can be for Gemma. We’re co-parents. We’re a great team — but we’re not romantic partners.”
What viewers didn’t know, however, is that Lindsay had already made peace with this decision long before the reunion — perhaps even before the public ever knew they were together.
The couple reconnected in January 2024, just weeks after Lindsay’s very public breakup with Carl Radke. Turner — a physician and biotech investor — lived a life far from the spotlight, in stark contrast to Lindsay’s world of cameras, interviews, and BravoCon. When she found out she was pregnant in April, Lindsay made one thing clear: “I wasn’t looking for a proposal. I wasn’t looking to move in together. I just wanted everything laid out, no assumptions.”
Some called it bold. Others called it detached. But for Lindsay, it was a survival choice — a way to maintain control of her life while stepping into a role she’d never played before: motherhood.
At the reunion, Lindsay confirmed that she and Turner had ended their romantic relationship “a few months ago,” and revealed that even during the Summer House Season 9 premiere party on February 12, they were no longer a couple. Still, Turner accompanied her to the Watch What Happens Live taping that same night — and continued spending multiple nights a week at her apartment.
“We’re basically best friends,” Lindsay said. “We still get lunch together, take Gemma out for walks, do weekends without a nanny. But we’re not intimate.”
The core issue, she explained, wasn’t chemistry or even parenting — it was lifestyle incompatibility. Lindsay lives publicly. Turner does not. She posts about motherhood; he prefers privacy. She thrives in the spotlight; he finds it stifling.
"My lifestyle, my public-facing personality, the way he keeps things private — it’s just too much, all at once,” Lindsay admitted. “There’s a lot to unpack.”
Her castmates were visibly shocked. West Wilson, who had recently visited Lindsay and Turner’s apartment, was stunned: “Wait — you weren’t together when I was there? I didn’t notice anything. I was there for two hours.”
Only Gabby Prescod had known beforehand. “Lindsay told me Turner was a great father but not the right partner for her,” Gabby said. “She didn’t try to force it just to maintain the picture-perfect family. And I respect that. She realized she needs a man who’s her person — not just her co-parent.”
No screaming. No scandal. But somehow, that made the breakup feel even more profound. Lindsay had quietly walked away from the idea of “doing the right thing” — in order to do what was right for her.
On the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, Lindsay once recalled her first reaction to the pregnancy: “Oh sh*t.”
“We had just started dating,” she said. “And I thought, Oh my god. We’ve only been together a few months — and now I’m pregnant?”
But despite the shock, Lindsay never hesitated in embracing motherhood. On December 6, 2024, she gave birth to baby Gemma. Turner was there. He gifted her a Cartier watch. He took six weeks off work to help care for their daughter. Even now, he’s present in the mornings and evenings — a loving father by every account.
But sometimes, a great dad… just isn’t the right partner.
And Lindsay Hubbard understood that. Quietly. Long before anyone realized she had already let go. Long before anyone asked, “What happened?”
The truth is — not everything happens in a single moment.
Some decisions begin deep within, waiting silently for the right time to be said out loud.
