Hugh Grant has broken his silence on claims he made out with a TV star at a New York restaurant several years ago.
The 64-year-old British actor responded to claims made by Luann de Lesseps, known for starring in The Real Housewives of New York City. The 59-year-old American television personality claimed that when a friend told her that Hugh was at Pierre's, a French restaurant in the Hamptons, she decided to go to the venue straight away and get a table next to the actor
Luann then said that after bumping into Hugh, she told him: "I'm so sorry. Can I buy you a shot, I feel terrible." After he agreed, she claimed that they began "taking shots and making out heavily at the table." She added: "My brother was like, 'I can't believe you're making out with Hugh Grant', and I was like, 'Neither can I.'"
On Monday, Hugh shared an article reporting Luann's claims and said that while he remembers meeting a "charming" RHONY star at a restaurant "about 15 years ago", he doesn't recall having shots or kissing. He tweeted: "Steady on. I do remember meeting a charming RHNY in a restaurant, but I'd like to stress it was about 15 years ago."
But the Bridget Jones and Love Actually actor didn't completely refute Luann's account, as he added: "I don't recall shots or kissing but her memory might be better than mine." The RHONY star didn't issue a response to the actor's X post, but she reposted a snippet of her TooFab interview during which she made the claims.
Hugh has been married with his wife Anna Eberstein since 2018. The couple have three children. Last month, Hugh said he "went crazy" and did tequila shots with Taylor Swift's boyfriend, Travis Kelce, when he attended one of her concerts. Speaking to Zoe Ball on her BBC Radio 2 breakfast show, he said: "I loved it. Couldn't have enjoyed it more.
"They were so nice to us. And she (his daughter) was bopping up and down. And, meanwhile, I was doing tequila shots with Taylor Swift's very nice boyfriend, whose name has slipped my mind Travis."
"We went crazy", he added. Speaking about the shots, he said: "It's revolting, isn't it? As long as you've got a bit of lime and some salt..." During the interview, Hugh also discussed his role in new horror film Heretic on the radio programme and admitted he is "not good" with the genre.
