INDIANAPOLIS - The Philadelphia Eagles are going big game hunting again.
At least that's what it looks like to several reporters here at the 2025 Scouting Combine this week in Indianapolis. Multiple reports across the league have declared Philadelphia will be looking to trade for former Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett to bolster their edge defense.

In order for that to happen, though, significant capital would need to be given to the Cleveland Browns and could leave Philadelphia in a bind with some of their top-flight free agents as well.
Case in point, linebacker Zack Baun.
Baun was a first-team All-Pro for the Eagles this past season after joining the team on a one-year prove-it deal with the expectation he would be nothing more than a special teams player and occasional pass rusher.
That didn't happen. And Philadelphia was better for it. Baun proved his worth early in the season and had one of the best years for an Eagles linebacker in franchise history. Thanks to his over 150-tackle season, though, Baun is expected to hit free agency and a top player in the group.
There is good news for Philadelphia in that regard, though.
There is a path for the team to not only extend Baun to a reasonable deal, but also bring in a player like Garrett. There just needs to be significant versatility along the cap management side.
For starters, Garrett is entering the second to last year of his previously signed five-year, $125 million contract. He carries a cap hit of just $19 million this season and $20 million next year. He could also sign a different extension with Philadelphia to lower those hits over the next two years.
That's more than manageable for the Birds to also extend the likes of Baun well north of $15 million as well.
The numbers match up. If the Eagles want Garrett and Baun on the roster, they absolutely can do it.
