In 17 seasons in the NFL, Hall of Fame wide receiver Tim Brown made just one Super Bowl appearance, losing to the Buccaneers at the tail end of his career in 2002. But he's had his fair share of playoff experience, and made his lone Super Bowl showing count, when he collected 13 receptions for 134 yards in the Raiders' loss.
Now, when he looks at how the two games in the NFL shape up on Sunday, Brown is going against the grain. Especially in the NFC, where he bucked the odds last week and picked the Commanders to upset the Lions on the road.
Brown is at it again. In the upcoming Sunday afternoon showdown between Washington and Philadelphia, Brown is seeing another W for the upstart Commanders, and a trip to the Super Bowl.
He has one main reason: dynamic rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels.
Speaking on NFL Radio on Sirius XM on Saturday morning, Brown said, "I just believe this kid plays the game so differently than anybody that has come to this spot as far as being a rookie. I think he is going to handle it a little differently, man. I am not saying they’re going to win, though I do believe they’re going to win.
"I think that this is going to be very interesting to see. Unless he changes who he is, with the smile on his face and making these plays, unless he changes who he is, I just don’t see him making those kinds of mistakes."
Brown hedged a bit, obviously fearing the vaunted Eagles defense. But, when pressed for a firm commitment to a Washington win, he said, "I do believe they’ll win this game.
"I think they are playing the best football out of everybody who is left. They’re the hot team right now, they’re the team nobody wants to see because nobody thought they would do anything. They’re playing like, hey, we don’t have anything to lose. We’re playing with house money. That’s always a dangerous team."
