Stealing a player from the team you just beat in the Super Bowl is a fun wrinkle, especially at a position already brimming with talent. Philly saw an opportunity to buy low and give Uche the best defensive group of talent the veteran has ever worked with. This gives the franchise the hope that the talented defender is able to turn back the clock to the productive option he was not long ago.

Uche totaled 11.5 sacks with the Patriots in the 2022 season, failing to touch this number the next two years combined. In the last two years, the veteran has offered a combined 5.0 sacks in two years of chances. It is this dip in production that gave the Eagles the chance to find a potential bargain and add a player who is never going to have a better chance to return to form. Considering the team's immense defensive talent and the dominating presence on the defensive interior, Uche is going to see improvement.

The Eagles Bought Low on Pass Rusher Josh Uche

While double-digit sacks for Uche aren't completely out of the question, a better expectation is 7-8 sacks in a rotational role. Uche is going to prove to be one of the team's best bargain signings and earn a better contract after aiding another postseason run. These are the types of savvy moves fans have come to expect from a front office that is never satisfied with the status quo.

Even coming off a Super Bowl title, the Eagles are searching for every possible advantage. The veteran pass rusher falls under this and has a chance to make a surprise impact. While Saquon Barkley, Jalen Hurts, and A.J. Brown understandably commanded most of the media attention, it is the Philly defense that was the biggest factor in the team's Super Bowl run. Whether it was a clutch stop against Matthew Stafford early in the playoffs or terrorizing Patrick Mahomes, the defense continually set the tone.

Uche fits perfectly into this, giving the team needed depth and a chance to turn back the clock for a player who has a chance to be one of the biggest bargains of the 2025 offseason.
