The Philadelphia Eagles are fresh off winning Super Bowl LIX, but that hasn’t prevented them from being rather busy this offseason, as they are attempting to win their second straight championship in 2025. Before their blowout 40-22 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, the Eagles hadn’t won a title since 2017, when they took down the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII.
One guy who was a part of that team was veteran linebacker Bryan Braman, who spent his time with the team primarily playing on special teams. While his role wasn’t huge, Braman was still a key piece of this team, which is why the Eagles and their fans have been crushed to hear the latest update on his health situation.
Braman went undrafted in the 2011 NFL Draft, but he managed to latch on with the Houston Texans and carve out a role on their special teams unit. In 16 games as a rookie, Braman only racked up eight tackles and 0.5 sacks, but he was still a crucial part of their special teams units, which quickly became his calling at the professional level.
After his three-season stint with the Texans came to an end, Braman found his way to the Eagles, where he played for four seasons. The highlight of his career came in 2017, when Philly upset New England in the Super Bowl, giving Braman his first and only championship ring. As it turns out, Super Bowl LII would be the final game of his NFL career.
Braman would spend time with the New Orleans Saints before returning to the Eagles, but he didn’t ever end up taking the field again after 2017. Back in February, Braman was diagnosed with a rare, aggressive form of cancer, and it appears his situation has taken a turn for the worse, as he’s in the “fight of his life” according to his agent, Sean Stellato.
“At Stellato Sports, Bryan Braman has always stood for strength, resilience and leadership,” Stellato told KPRC 2 in Houston. “He is a pillar and a staple of the underdog. Now, in the face of cancer, he embodies those qualities more than ever. If there is one person that I know that can beat cancer, it is Bryan Braman, who I have always considered family. He’s in the fight of his life.”

Braman’s situation is quite unfortunate, and the team is obviously pulling for him to make it through his current fight. A GoFundMe has been created for Braman, which has raised over $80,000 as of Sunday morning. Several of his former teammates have donated, with legendary Texans defensive lineman J.J. Watt contributing $10,000 to the fundraiser.
In the meantime, the Eagles will begin turning their attention towards training camp, which is set to get underway on July 22. Once Philadelphia gets back on the field, they will be looking to show the league that they are here to stay for good by going out and attempting to win their second straight championship.
Maybe I'm naive, or maybe I'm a glass-half-full type of person, but the Dallas Cowboys' run game in 2025 will be better than last season. Granted, the bar isn't exactly set too high for Miles Sanders, Javonte Williams, and Jaydon Blue to clear, with Rico ...
