Love Island fans had long speculated that one of this year's Islanders already knew a fellow cast member, and the truth has finally come to light.
Conor Phillips was one of the original line-up and has clung on to his place in the series. While he's now in a couple with Shakira Khan, he had previously started pursuing things with fellow Ireland native Megan Forte Clarke before she was dumped early on in the series.
At the time, die-hard viewers did a bit of digging and found a series of clues that Conor and Megan actually knew each other before they entered the villa, with one fan theory doing the rounds speculating that they were actually dating already.
Since leaving the villa, Megan has spoken openly about her time on the show, and she finally addressed the fan rumours about their rumoured relationship before villa life during a chat with Heatworld.
"This is so funny. On day one [in the villa] Conor told me that he followed me on Instagram four years ago and I never followed him back," she shared. "Since coming out I've seen that follows me on TikTok and he actually commented on one of my TikToks."
She continued: "Again I've not followed him back or even realised he'd commented on one so, yeah it's nice that he's still trying four years later. It's worked for him now I suppose."
Fans flooded the comments section underneath the interview, with one lamenting the fact that many of the Islanders are connected already. They vented: "Worst problem with modern day love island... half know each other already. Bin off wannabe influencers with 10k+ and get some 400 follower rockets on there."
However one fan loved their story, penning: "That's actually quite cute! And then ended up in Love Island together." Meanwhile a third viewer added: "Bless him, he thought he hit gold when you were in the villa at the same time."
After Megan's exit from the villa Conor was dejected and said it would take a lot for his head to turn, resisting the urge to follow her out of the villa. Despite this, he now seems blissfully coupled-up with Shakira, even telling Harrison he had no regrets about staying put after Megan was dumped.
