"Grow Up" — Below Deck Sailing Yacht fans react to Gary telling Captain Glenn he needed the "cash"

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5 Episode 14, titled, Rules o En-Rage-ment, Captain Glenn had laid out ground rules for the crew that went out drinking with the chartered guests. However, Keith, Daisy, and Gary did not follow them which earned them a sitdown with the captain.

While Chase had also accompanied the guests, since he only had one beer, he was off the hook, however, the rest of them broke their superior's 2 drink rule and faced the possible consequences of the same. Captain Glenn told the Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 2 cast members he was thinking about holding their tip as punishment and First Mate Gary King told him he could because he needed the money.

Fans of the Bravo reality show commented on Gary's behavior online and criticized him for speaking to Captain Glenn the way he did. One person wrote on X:

Fans of Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5 felt Captain Glenn deserved better:

"You clearly need the cash"— Below Deck Sailing Yacht's Gary King clashes with Captain Glenn
In Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5 Episode 14, Captain Glenn caught Gary King drunk after a night of drinking with the guests. He told the cameras how disappointed he was with the First Mate's behavior and held a meeting with those who went out with the guests after the charter.

He called Keith, Gary, Daisy, and Chase about how much they drank the previous night. He told them he could tell they had more than 2 drinks each and Gary said he had five drinks.

"You being honest?" Captain Glenn asked.
A flashback showed the Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5 star consuming 10 drinks and the captain asked the other three how much they drank. Keith said he had "four or five" while Daisy admitted to having two drinks and two shots. Chase said he had one beer and Daisy backed up his claim.

"I don't want to take you guys' tip, but if I set a rule and I tell you guys what the consequences are and then I don't follow up, it's a f*cking free-for-all, isn't it?" Captain Glenn said.
While Daisy apologized for breaking the rules Gary said they didn't "abuse the situation" and said he wasn't drunk the previous night. The Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5 captain said Gary didn't follow the rules and recalled having to chase crew members to go to bed at 2 AM the previous night.

Gary insisted he was not "f*cked up" the previous night and told the captain to take "100% from him.

"You clearly need the cash," he added.
Fans of the reality show criticized Gary's behavior online and for telling Captain Glenn he needed cash.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5 will air Episode 15 on January 19, 2025, on Bravo.
