Gia tells PEOPLE that her dad Joe Giudice "is doing amazing" six years after moving to the Bahamas
Gia Giudice is offering an update on her dad Joe Giudice.
In a recent interview with PEOPLE, the 24-year-old revealed what Joe’s life looks like six years after he was deported from the United States following his 41-month prison sentence for fraud. He now lives out of the spotlight in the Bahamas, and Gia says he “is doing amazing.”
“We visit him at least four times a year,” she says of herself and her three sisters — Milania, 19, Gabriella, 20, and Audriana, 15. “He is living life. He is back in the construction world, so he is just doing a lot of construction work out there in the Bahamas. He specializes in tile and stone, that's what he's really good at. So he does a lot of tiling and stone jobs. He just built this really cool seawall. But yeah, he's doing great.”
Fans first got to know the Giudice family when Teresa Giudice (who also served time in prison and later divorced Joe) joined The Real Housewives of New Jersey in 2009. While Teresa continues to document her life on the show, Joe has been out of the spotlight.
Looking ahead, Gia says she plans to use her new iHeartRadio podcast, called Casual Chaos, to dig deeper into her what her father is up to now.
“I would love to have my dad on my podcast,” she teases. “He will definitely be on my podcast. I would even bring my at-home studio to the Bahamas and do a real podcast with him. I would love that.”
After her parents’ legal drama played out in the public eye, Gia intended to go to law school. She has since decided to take on other opportunities that have come her way, but she isn’t abandoning her passion for the law entirely.
“I would love to incorporate some guests that are lawyers onto my podcast, 100%, even to talk about my dad's case or anything like that, my parents' case. I feel like that would be really cool,” she explains.
“I'm super excited to talk about topics like divorce and talk about how I manage my parents' divorce and maybe see if that can help others, or how I dealt with my parents' incarceration if any of my viewers are dealing with their parents, family members or friends going through incarceration,” she adds. “I would love to talk about that topic and see how I can help people in that way and really share my advice and try to make an impact in those ways.”
At the same time, Gia reveals that through her podcast, along with an upcoming reality series, Next Gen NYC, people will be able to see a different side to her.
“I'm excited for people to get to know my fun lighthearted self,” she says. “And I just want them to feel like they're in a conversation with me while listening to my podcast. I want them to feel how casual and easy I am, and I also want them to really feel like they can relate to me.”
Next Gen NYC premieres Tuesday, June 3, at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo, and new episodes of Gia's iHeartRadio podcast, Casual Chaos, are released weekly on Mondays.
