Former Rangers Sean Avery calls for Chris Drury to trade this star before it's too late

Sean Avery is never one to shy away from saying what he thinks or feels. This time he's called for Rangers RFA K'Andre Miller to be traded as soon as possible.KAndre Miller and the Rangers

The New York Rangers will have to make a huge decision with RFA K'Andre Miller. Miller was considered a huge part of the Rangers' future, as a two-way defenseman, who offers scoring prowess, and physicality on the ice.

Yet this season we've seen a massive decline in production for the defenseman, scoring only 6 points( 2 G, 4 A) in 28 games this season. Where his career year was in 2022-2023, under Gerard Gallant posting 43 points( 9 G, 34 A).

With the noticeable decline in play and production, retired Rangers forward Sean Avery called for the RFA to be traded on the latest episode of Spittin' Chiclets.

Avery feels that Miller doesn't play like a warrior, compared to veteran defenseman Ryan McDonagh. He has the wrong demeanor for the big markets according to Avery.

While Avery isn't wrong that Miller isn't working out this season, this seems a bit premature, as the culture in the locker room seems to be in the throes of despair.

Avery is quick to lash out at every Rangers player, or decision he hasn't personally sponsored.

But let's entertain him via The Athletic's Arthur Staple, what would the reason be for moving him?

Miller may be better suited to a more stay-at-home partner, which means on this Rangers team, he'd be a second-pair guy. If the Rangers aren't sold on a Miller-Fox pairing, then exploring a trade this offseason makes a fair amount of sense.

As the cap crunch arrives soon, with the recent signing of Igor Shesterkin the decision to move Miller could arrive as soon as March, or later in the offseason when GM Chris Drury prioritizes players to keep.

Miller is in year 2 of a 2-year, $3.872 Million AAV deal, and when it expires he'll be an RFA.

Should GM Chris Drury trade K'Andre miller now?
