Former Raiders $66 Million Pro Bowler Signs Contract With Texans - suong

After a season with the Cincinnati Bengals, veteran offensive tackle Trent Brown is moving south. According to a Friday X post from ESPN's Adam Schefter, Brown is signing a one-year contract worth up to $3 million with the Houston Texans.

This is a bit of a homecoming for the veteran as he was born in Texas. The Texans traded away Pro Bowl tackle Laremy Tunsil this offseason and doing what they can to sure-up their tackle positions.

Brown is a capable starter when healthy but that has been a major issue for him. He has been able to play more than 10 games in just two of the last five seasons.

There was a time when he was considered one of the top tackles in the NFL after the Las Vegas Raiders gave him a four-year, $66 million contract in 2019. That first season in Las Vegas was his best as he was named to the Pro Bowl despite playing in just 11 games.

The Raiders quickly soured on him and his lack of availability and traded him back to the New England Patriots. The injury issues continued and he only played in three games last season with the Bengals.

Houston desperately needs strong offensive line play and Brown is far from a sure thing. The Texans may need to strongly consider drafting another offensive tackle early but if Brown stays healthy, he can be an impact player for them.
