Former New York Rangers forward Ryan Reaves is facing a potential suspension after laying a brutal headshot on Edmonton Oilers defenseman Darnell Nurse.
Ryan Reaves, who is known for his physical style of play along with being at the centre of controversy, unfortunately that continues as Reaves laid a high hit on Nurse causing an immediate stoppage of play.
After a very short review, the NHL officials gave the 37-year old enforcer a major and match penalty for the hit.
Any calls that receive a game misconduct instantly get viewed by the NHL Department of Player Saftey, so without a doubt Reaves will be getting a call from the League.
NHL insider Elliotte Friedman confirmed that Nurse would not return to the game, which will ultimately contribute to the overall decision.
Clearly you know it's bad when Maple Leafs fans think it was a dirty hit along with a Toronto reporter Jesse Blake, who also admitted that Reaves deserves a suspension.
