FRISCO - Under Dan Quinn, Trevon Diggs says he was ready to run through a wall. Under Mike Zimmer, the Dallas Cowboys' former All-Pro cornerback is regularly criticized for not hurting a flea.
You know it's an eyebrow-raising podcast when Diggs' dripping irony is only the second-most shocking proclamation.
Late to the action at the goal line, Stevenson wound up tipping Jayden Daniels' Hail Mary pass into the waiting arms of receiver Noah Brown for a last-second touchdown in the Bears' dramatic 18-15 loss.
Said Diggs with a straight face, "You can't let your emotions get the best of you."
But that tone-deaf statement was only the appetizer, as Diggs and Parsons then openly pined for Commanders' head coach Quinn. He left his job as Dallas' defensive coordinator in the offseason for Washington, and was replaced by Zimmer.
The 3-4 Cowboys, besieged by injuries along their defensive front, have allowed 77 points the last two games. While the two players never mentioned Zimmer by name, it's clear that they prefer Quinn's style.
"Confidence, that's what Dan represents," Parsons said. "People don't realize how high the morale he had on our team. The spirit he gave the defense. The energy he kind of gave all the players. Shark week. Fight night. Showing us boxing clips.
"And I see it in that Commanders team now."
Added Diggs, "Dan had me ready to run through a wall. The Commanders don't have superstars, but they play as a team and they play hard for one another. They look good."
Without Quinn, Diggs has regressed into a player with only interception and with a growing reputation for a lack of effort tackling and even chasing down opposing ball-carriers.
The Cowboys play the Commanders twice in the final seven weeks: Nov. 24 in Arlington and Week 18 in D.C.
