Things boiled over for the Yankees in the top of the seventh inning on Wednesday night — and it meant an early exit for two members of the coaching staff.
After Anthony Volpe was called out on strikes on what appeared to be a ball well above the zone, pitching coach Matt Blake was tossed before Aaron Boone got the heave-ho — but not until he got his money’s worth as he got in the face of home plate umpire Manny Gonzalez.
Aaron Boone was ejected in the seventh inning on Wednesday night.
Volpe took a 1-2 sinker that looked above the strike zone, but Gonzalez called the pitch from Blue Jays Chris Bassitt a strike.
Boone, after the Blake ejection, came out and got in Gonzalez’s face in what was a tense ejection with the Yankees down 6-4.
Immediate returns were not positive for the Yankees, who fell down by four runs in the bottom half of the frame.
