Exploring Impact of Potential JT Miller Return to New York Rangers

It's been a season unlike any other with the amount of trade rumours swirling around the NHL world. From teammates not liking each other in Vancouver and Boston to contenders making deals ahead of the deadline, we may see a lot of action on the market this season. We have already heard a lot about players that could be dealt in the coming weeks and we look to breakdown some of the potential deals that could happen before they are made so that we can getting odds at a premium before they change.

All betting lines are from Bet365 and are subject to change. Hockey is a difficult sport to predict so please gamble responsibly.

It's no secret there are severe locker room issues within the Canucks organization and the problem has progressed to the point where star forwards J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson are both on the trade block. The most clear sign of this was a report that the Canucks declined a trade offer for Miller that had Rangers centre Mika Zibanejad coming the other way.

The deal indicated how desperate the Rangers are to fix their own locker room problems that were created by leaks put out to the media about former captain Jacob Trouba and longtime Ranger Chris Kreider being involved in trade rumours, which created an uneasy state in the room that the team still hasn't been able to shake.

The deal would make a lot of sense as Miller played with the Rangers for six seasons where he played 341 games and could fit back into the lineup easier than other trade targets would. The Rangers have a growing farm system with some high-end prospects like EJ Emery and World Juniors star Gabe Perreault. They could easily make a deal if they want to continue contending for a cup and the Canucks will be looking to do the same as last season established they are contenders and would like to stay that way.

A trade should likely benefit both sides and fit holes on both ends and some bets we could look at would be the Rangers prevailing in the intense race for the Eastern Conference wild card spots.

The odds at +158 are fairly decent for the reigning President's trophy winners and they're heating up with a 4-0-1 record in their last five games, including wins over the Avalanche, Golden Knights and Devils. If they orchestrate a trade to bring in more talent, their odds will never be this low again as they could emerge as true contenders once again.
