Ex- New York Rangers forward Brain Boyle doesn't hold back as he calls out star forward Mika Zibanejad and his performance over the past season.
The New York Rangers season is now officially over as the team just had third annual locker clean-out as they missed the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time since 2021.
Throughout the 2024-25 season things started to fall apart for the New York Rangers, and unfortunately the organization couldn't manage to get it back on track.
Something which ultimately led to head coach Peter Laviolette being fired by the organization, after the team failed to make this years playoffs.
Now with head coach Peter Laviolette fired , many are assuming the Rangers will be busy this offseason.
However, before the New York Rangers make their changes, former forward Brian Boyle calls out thd entire team , especially Mika Zibanejad.
«If this is the way they're gonna go, that we need more communication with management, I [didn't] know what Glen Sather was doing ever,» Boyle said, referencing the Rangers GM when he was on the team. «Coach, tell me what to do, and then I'll go and try to do that.»
The former Rangers, Boyle then decided to pick one player and call him out for his recent performance, and how he failed the Rangers as a leader:
«You want to give me more stuff? What we're gonna in the salary cap next year? Or how are we going to trade this guy or bring this guy up? That's not your job. Your job is to play center ice and score goals, and be a power play guy. And you're a leader, and you wear a letter on this team.»
Certainly a strong take on Mika Zibanejad's performance as many fans will agree with this statement from Brain Boyle, hopefully the Rangers will recoup over the offseason and come back stronger in the 2025-26 season.
