According to recent reports ex-Rangers captain Jacob Trouba could be on the move once again, as one NHL analyst Jake Tye of 'The Hockey News' states that there is a chance that he will reunite with his former team who originally drafted him back in 2012.![Jacob Trouba with the Ducks]()
Despite there being several big-named players to hit free agency at the end of the 2025-26 season, such as Rangers star forward Artemi Panarin, there will also be a ton of veteran players who will most likely hit the open market, such as Jacob Trouba.
Ex-Rangers Captain Jacob Trouba To Reunite with his former Team?
Jacob Trouba is currently entering his last year of his seven-year deal that carries an annual cap hit of $8 million, which he signed with the New York Rangers organization back on July 19 2019, when he was traded from the Jets.
With that being said, Trouba has alway been known for his physical presence on the ice and has shown the ability to also produced up to 30-40 points in a season. Despite having a down year in production last season with the Rangers before being trade to the Ducks.
Would Jacob Trouba Return To The Winnipeg Jets?
If the Anaheim Ducks don't start to show signs of becoming a serious contender in the upcoming years, a return to Winnipeg could just be appealing for the 31-year old veteran.
As the Jets have made several playoff appearances in the recent years as the Anaheim Ducks have not, so it would be safe to say as Jacob Trouba's career comes closer to an end he will be looking to add a Stanley Cup victory to his resume before he retires.
Along with that, the Jets just might be in the market for a playoff-tested defenseman to strengthen their depth. However, Trouba will have to reduce his cap hit by a fair amount and take a deal ranging from $4 to $6 Million.
