Reality TV star Kandi Burruss of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” was trending over the weekend for reasons that might have proved surprising to her fans. First, fans were creating memes and videos featuring a clip of the Grammy-winning singer’s track, “Legs, Hips, Body.” The song is from the 2014 musical, “A Mother’s Love,” which Kandi and her husband, Todd Tucker, executive produced. “RHOA” viewers may also recognize “Legs, Hips, Body” as the song Cynthia Bailey played while giving Buruss a lap dance in season 11.
But most fans focused on Kandi and the comments her husband made during a recent episode of her YouTube series, “Speak On It.” At one point, Kandi asked her husband of eight years how he felt about her “RHOA” co-stars talking negatively about her on the show.
“When they talk about you, I’m like you’re the queen,” said Todd to Kandi, who replied, “Huh?” in shock.

Todd continued, “They have to go for the thrown like this is your show. I don’t care what nobody say. It’s yours it’s been yours and you’ve been on it the longest. You’ve used the platform for what it’s for and people see that and they want that and yeah that’s what they do. When you popping, when you cracking, people got s–t to say, point blank. And it’s nothing against them. It’s what people are supposed to do naturally. It’s some natural haters on your show and they got to naturally hate you.”
He concluded his response with the statement, “It is what it is, man.”
The Shade Room picked up a clip from Kandi and Todd’s episode, where fans in the comments shared mixed reviews about Todd calling Kandi the queen of “RHOA.” Most agreed Todd gave a typical response as her husband, but others pointed out how confused the Xscape singer looked.
One person said, “My husband BETTER speak on me the same way. That’s his wife. So that’s his OPINION.” Another wrote, “Even Kandi’s confused. BUT I love how hard he goes for his wife. That’s what a husband is supposed to do!”
A third Instagram user said, “I see what he saying, that woman is the QUEEN of knowing how to capitalize an idea and make it into a THRIVING business! And isn’t egregiously messy, yet still has memorable memes.”
Fans continued applauding Todd for standing by his wife, whom he met during a trip to Africa in 2011, in his time as a line producer on “RHOA.” Since then, Kandi has landed five spinoff series that all aired on Bravo. The couple documented their nuptials on 2014’s “Kandi’s Wedding.” The latest series, “Kandi & The Gang,” follows Burruss and and Todd juggling their existing careers while managing their family restaurant, Old Lady Gang.
One person said, “I love Todd for Kandi. I love his swag and his ability to be a cool, calm, and collected…They are a really underrated reality tv power couple.”
As many of you already know, Burruss has been an active cast member of “RHOA” since season two aired in 2009. The Bravo series returned with its 14th season earlier this month and the drama is heating up week by week. However, as much as fans love Kandi, most believe no one can hold a candle to her frenemy and former “RHOA” OG Nene Leakes.
“He should say that…that’s his wife. But it’s NeNe. But we still love us some Kandi.”
“Nene is but Kandi ain’t nothin to play with!”
“Maybe the princess but Nene is queen, don’t play.”
“NENE WILL FOREVER B DA QUEEN!”
“Nene is the Queen but she’s a close second.”
