Eva Marcille Defends Tyra Banks And America’s Next Top Model’s Legacy

Real Housewives of Atlanta alum Eva Marcille came to Tyra Banks‘ and America’s Next Top Model‘s defense.

Eva showed up for Tyra and the reality show that opened the doors for so many models from 2003 to 2018.

Tyra, a pioneer:

Eva explained to the Associated Press how the times have changed since America’s Next Top Model’s debut in the early aughts. “In today’s society, you can’t say” certain things without them being labeled “politically incorrect or insensitive.”

However, “At the time, I bonafide believe NO ONE was trying to insensitive. They were trying to be inclusive and funny at the same time. The temperature gauge and the barometer we now measure the things that were are all off. The metric system is so off.”

“Tyra Banks set off to do one thing, which was to show beauty in a different light. We forget Tyra is not Jesus. She is a woman, a human. Every intention she had was pure.”

America’s Next Top Model fans reacted:

  • I never thought Tyra was mean and thought she was always advocating for the girls. They were also preparing them for how harsh the industry was at that time and now. The fashion industry hasn’t gotten easier.
  • Agreed. Society is always evolving. So of course we’ll look at practices from years ago and be like “why tf would they do that?” Watching ANTM religiously back then never felt like it was as “wrong”
  • Stockholm syndrome..
  • That’s exactly how the modelling world is. Majority of the things that happened on ANTM happens in the modeling world
  • Eva also will defend Tyra because she won that season, when everyone knows YaYa deserved that win.
  • Tyra was NEVER INTENTIONALLY trying to hurt these girls…if anything it was the other judges being disgusting…
