Erika Jayne performs as Roxie Hart in Chicago on Broadway
As mentioned, Erika previously performed as Roxie in the long-running Broadway musical in early 2020. Shortly after her Chicago stint began, her time in the show wrapped up early amid the Coronavirus pandemic, ending her run weeks earlier than expected.
However prior to leaving the show, Erika revealed all about her excitement for performing as a persona who isn't Erika Jayne, though she wasn't shy to compare her alter egos of Erika and Roxie. "Performing as Erika Jayne, that's a good New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, anywhere in the world moment," she told The Daily Dish back in 2020, adding that she was always down for a "New York-Beverly Hills Cross."
And while Chicago is known for its high-octane moments, Erika isn't new when it comes to drama. In fact, she even compared the Real Housewives to her role in the Broadway show during her first tenure in the show. “You cannot rehearse Housewives,’" she told Page Six at the time. "Let me say that again. You cannot rehearse Housewives because it’s natural and in the moment. You can rehearse Broadway and that’s what we’re doing and that’s where all the hard work comes in for Broadway.”
While Erika will get the chance to return to Roxie in 2025, when she stepped away in 2020 amid the pandemic, she made it clear how important the role and her time on Broadway meant to her, but that it felt "incomplete." "Well this is not the way I wanted to say goodbye to Roxie and my Chicago family but I have no choice. THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart to everyone that came to the shows," Erika Jayne wrote in 2020. "I leave NYC feeling like my mission is incomplete but I will treasure this time always."
Well, she won't feel "incomplete" much longer. By the way, you can check out The Daily Dish's throwback interview with Erika from her first stint as Roxie in Chicago by checking out the video at the top of the post.
Erika Jayne reacts to appearing on the Anora soundtrack
In a recent interview with The Daily Dish back in November 2024, Erika shed more light on what else she's working on in her music career.
"We released a new song, we're shooting a video. I'm out performing, which I think is wonderful. And I'm actually hosting a screening for the movie Anora, which won the Palme d'Or at Cannes, and one of my songs ["Drip"] is in it. So, it's fun. Erika Jayne's music is out there," she said (the screening took place shortly after the interview). As for the Oscar buzz for Anora, she added, "Can you imagine?! I mean, like this song that I recorded a few years ago, where I was like, 'Eh,' and now here it is. It's in Anora."
