Emotional Teddi Mellencamp Opens Up About Struggles Amid Cancer Treatment: Navigating Through Tough Times - lulu

   

Teddi Mellencamp shared a health update with her fans over the weekend amid her brain tumor battle.

The reality TV personality, 43, tearfully admitted that she is having a 'hard time' and is 'coping' by posting herself going out and having fun after a successful brain tumor surgery.

She said that even though she is sharing a lot of her highs, she reminded her fans that she is still going through a lot of lows too.

While laying in bed on Saturday evening, she posted a clip of herself addressing 'all the fun and amazing things I've been doing.'

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum — who competed in her first horse derby over the weekend — explained that is how she is finding 'peace' as she prepares to kick off a week of radiation treatment. 

'I know I speak a lot about all the fun and amazing things that I've been doing since all of the tumors, and I have been doing them,' she said.

Teddi Mellencamp opens up about struggles amid cancer journey'And it's been my way of peace, of coping, finding happiness,' she continued.

'But I also wanted to send a reminder and a gentle, like, "I feel you," if you're going through this, going through a hard time, that is also normal.' 

Addressing her 1.1 million followers, she said she was doing her 'best' to feel 'good' during difficult times. 

'We all find our new normal, and we do the best that we can to feel as good as we can in that moment,' she said. 

'Some nights [are] really hard,' she added. 'Tonight's one of them.' 

On Sunday morning, she also shared several Instagram Story posts ahead of beginning 'a week of radiation.'

She explained that she does immunotherapy every three weeks and also shared an update about her treatment process. 

In a short clip, she answered questions about how she chooses to wear a wig and talking about the sports drink she doesn't like but has to consume amid her treatment.

Teddi Mellencamp is back on her horse in equestrian competition

She began by saying the 'story of my life' is 'always to be having to drink Powerade.' 'I'm here to tell you, it's not my favorite,' she admitted. 

'Trying to suck down a bottle of this every morning is a real dream, but I guess it's supposed to help.' 

Then, she shared an update about her treatment. 

'My immunotherapy kinda kicks your butt, guys. It kinda kicks your butt, but it waits a little bit — and then it kicks your butt,' she said before adding that she is going to 'start a week of radiation' treatment beginning on Monday. 

She also explained why she chooses to wear a wig and said she gets 'lots of questions' about it. 

'They're like, "Why not just rock the shaved head?" And guys, sometimes I do,' she said.

'Yesterday, I didn't wear a wig in the afternoon, and I'll be honest, I felt a little insecure. So I'm going to do whatever makes me feel the best.' 

Ahead of the week of intense treatment she's about to head into, she shared positivity.

'But [I'm] always trying to find a little bit of the positive. Apparently, I mean I'm not a doctor — I barely made it through high school — but apparently, the more immunotherapy kicks your butt, the more it's working, is what I was told.' 

She continued: 'That's why I do immunotherapy every three weeks, whereas my radiation, for example, that I start on Monday, I do for a week straight.' 

The former reality star — who had 17 different melanoma spots removed over the past two years — received her brain tumor diagnosis in February after going to the hospital for 'unbearable' pain. 

Last month, she underwent emergency surgery — a craniotomy with a tumor resection, where four tumors were removed from her brain. 

She stayed in the hospital for over two weeks while recovering from the major surgery. 

On March 6, she said that her doctors found three more tumors in her brain as well as a tumor in each of her lungs.
