At first glance, the Philadelphia Eagles should feel confident in their chances of beating the Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship Game.
Not only did the Eagles win at home the last time the two teams met, but their lone loss on the road in Washington came with quarterback Jalen Hurts leaving the game at the end of the first quarter.
Past games don't matter when it gets to the conference title game, though.
In fact, recent records show that the Eagles are in deep trouble going into their final four contest against one of their biggest arch-rivals at the worst possible time.
For starters, Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels is trying to be the first rookie quarterback in NFL history to reach the Super Bowl. Two coaches in league history have won the Super Bowl in their first year with their new team when both Don McCafferty and George Seifert did it with their respective teams.
No coach and quarterback in their first season together has reached the Super Bowl.
Records are meant to be broken, though.
And with all the rookies who have struggled in the conference championship game, Daniels has a chance to be the first to buck the trend overall.
Keep in mind that Washington was able to beat Philadelphia even after turning the ball over five times in a showdown back in December. Add in their recent success on fourth down and the Commanders look like an unkillable team unlike anything the Eagles have dealt with.
And one that shows the team could be in major trouble.
