Eagles Trade of ‘Chatty’ A.J. Brown Suggested by Colin Cowherd - suong

In a surprising take following the Philadelphia Eagles' Super Bowl LIX victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, NFL analyst Colin Cowherd has suggested the team should consider trading star wide receiver A.J. Brown due to what he described as being "chatty" about quarterback Jalen Hurts.

On a recent episode of The Herd, Cowherd expressed frustration with wide receivers publicly discussing issues with their quarterbacks, singling out Brown despite his crucial contributions to the Eagles' championship run.

Former Tennessee Titans WR AJ Brown

"I'm over chatty wide receivers calling out quarterbacks," Cowherd stated emphatically. "Let's be honest, with DeVonta Smith, Dallas Goedert, Saquon Barkley, and that offensive line, you can move off A.J. Brown. He's very, very good... but you can move off him."

The comments come after Brown recently acknowledged that he and Hurts had some tensions during the season, telling reporters: "We just want to be great, and like I said, we push each other, and sometimes we bump heads. But that's normal. Don’t nobody sweat it."

For Cowherd, even this level of public disclosure was too much. He suggested that if the Eagles decide to keep Brown, they should issue him an ultimatum: "I would call him in right now and say, 'You're not talking about the quarterback publicly, or we're gonna move you... I'd say first and last warning. We don't talk about our quarterback publicly.'"

Co-host Jason McIntyre pushed back against Cowherd's take, arguing that Brown is "instrumental to winning" and noting how he "cooked McDuffie in the Super Bowl." McIntyre added, "You can find a linebacker. You can't find an A.J. Brown."

Cowherd countered by claiming he could find "80% of A.J. Brown" elsewhere, suggesting that "the soul of this team is the GM, the O-line, Saquon, and Jalen."

This represents a significant shift in Cowherd's position from earlier in the season when he reportedly claimed that "the whole offense runs through A.J. Brown" and cited statistics about the Eagles' win-loss record with and without Brown in the lineup.

The comments have sparked debate among Eagles fans and NFL analysts alike. While many agree that team issues are best kept private, the suggestion of trading a star receiver who played a critical role in bringing Philadelphia its second Super Bowl championship seems extreme.

The Eagles' front office has not responded to Cowherd's comments. General Manager Howie Roseman recently stated, "It's gonna be interesting... just be patient with us," acknowledging that some roster changes are inevitable as the team navigates salary cap challenges.

After avenging their Super Bowl LVII loss to the Chiefs and capturing another Lombardi Trophy, the focus in Philadelphia remains on enjoying their success rather than entertaining hot takes from sports media personalities.
