Eagles Stars Used 1 Word to Describe Jalen Hurts' Practice Performance Amid Injury Concern - suong

As the Philadelphia Eagles make their final preparations to host the Green Bay Packers in the wild card round of the NFC playoffs, all eyes are on quarterback Jalen Hurts.

The star quarterback suffered a concussion in the first quarter of a Dec. 22 against the Washington Commanders, causing him to miss the final two games of the regular season. Hurts didn't practice over those two weeks, but did return to the practice field on Wednesday.

ESPN's Tim McManus reported, "multiple sources around Hurts have expressed optimism about him playing against Green Bay in recent days, but it ultimately comes down to whether he's able to make it through all the stages of the protocol, which includes getting sign-off from by an independent neurological consultant."

While the Eagles don't know quite yet if he'll be on the field, they do know he's looking good in practice. Star offensive linemen Jordan Mailata and Lane Johnson both used "sharp" to describe Hurts' practice performance.

He was sharp today. Looked really good." Mailata told reporters on Wednesday. "Sharp, he looked sharp — I'll be honest. Looked really sharp. He was out there in short sleeves. ...I thought he had a phenomenal practice."

"He was sharp today. Looked really good," added Johnson.

Mailata admitted that it took Hurts some time to return to form, but once he got back out onto the field he "didn't miss a beat."

"I've been there before with a concussion and you want to get back out there as fast as possible," Mailata said. "It took him some time but he came out there and didn't miss a beat."

Head coach Nick Sirianni knows his team will be well prepared with the way they practice.

"This is why you go through the process of practicing and all the things that you do at practice to get on the same page and do everything there," he said. "We feel like we practice at a very high intensity level. This is why you go out there and do those things."

Philadelphia and Green Bay kick off at 4:30 p.m. ET on Sunday afternoon. The game will be broadcast on Fox.
