Ladies and gentlemen, one of the oddest complaints made this offseason has just been made toward the Philadelphia Eagles. It doesn't have to do with the Tush Push, the legacy of their starting quarterback, or even an overpaid player like in edge rusher Bryce Huff.
Nope, the complaint comes courtesy of Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report.
And he has an issue with how much money Eagles star receiver DeVonta Smith is making.

"Smith is a very good player, but he's a clear-cut No. 2 receiver who has averaged about 1,000 yards per season and never scored more than eight touchdowns in a campaign," Gagnon said. "Yet his $25 million AAV makes him the 12th-highest-paid player at his position.
Wait...what?
In four seasons with the Eagles, Smith has reset the record books in franchise history with over 300 receptions, over 4,000 yards, and 27 touchdowns. Along the way, he signed a very fair three-year deal worth $75 million last offseason.
That makes him paid more than the likes of Deebo Samuel, Nico Collins, and Mike Evans.
Is that contract fair for Smith? Based on the fact he's arguably the best second option on any offense, the contract is more than fair and any sense of using the word "overpaid" comes completely ridiculous.
Two of the league's top second options include Miami Dolphins wideout Jaylen Waddle and Cincinnati Bengals star Tee Higgins. Both players make over $28 million per year on an annual basis.
Smith has more reception yards than those two in each of the last two seasons combined.
So while Gagnon certainly got his wish in creating a piece for views, it's clear that the notion of Smith being overrated is nothing more than one of the more hilarious reaches of the offseason.
