On Season 16, Episode 10 of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, some felt Drew Sidora overstepped when she brought up Porsha Williams' daughter Pilar Jhena "PJ" McKinley's college fund at the recording studio.
So, during The Real Housewives of Atlanta After Show, Drew took the opportunity to explain herself to Cynthia Bailey and Angela Oakley.
Kelli Ferrell and Shamea Morton weighed in as well — though they didn't see eye-to-eye with Drew's explanation or her business relationship with Porsha's ex and PJ's father, Dennis McKinley.
Let's unpack it all below.
What did Drew Sidora say about Porsha Williams' daughter's college fund?
As seen on RHOA, Dennis helped Drew write and produce some of her music. This caused friction between Drew and Porsha, who didn't love the idea of them working together "behind her back."
Drew unintentionally heated up the situation when she told Cynthia and Shamea that "The royalties and the way [Dennis'] publishing system is set up, that's gonna pay for PJ's whole college."
Drew Sidora explains her comments about Dennis McKinley's finances
In the RHOA After Show video above, Drew explained that she "had only said what Dennis said," which was, "'This music is a revenue stream, for me to be able to take care of my daughter, send her to college.'"
Drew characterized the conversation between herself and Dennis as "positive," with "everything from the heart, and a blessing," for Porsha, ex Dennis, and their shared daughter "as a family unit."
Simply put, per Drew, the comment was not meant as shade, nor to imply that Porsha would need Drew's assistance to pay for PJ's school in the future via music royalties.
"This was never to be disrespectful," she insisted. "This is nothing to ever hurt you. This is a blessing for all of us, you know."
"For me, [music came] at a time when I needed it, 'cause I have to take care of three kids," she added. "This was an opportunity that I'm also passionate about. And I feel like that was just missed."
Ultimately, she said, "You'll have a good intention, and it's not always received well."
Cynthia said that "it didn't seem shady" to her, and Angela noted that the news got back to Porsha via Shamea, who shared the comment "with a little sauce on it."
Kelli Ferrell and Shamea Morton respond to Drew Sidora's claims about PJ's college fund
While discussing the moment on the After Show, Kelli and Shamea had a lot to say on the matter. "Now, wait a minute," Kelli exclaimed. "Not the college!"
"That was too far," agreed Shamea, "That was off limits."
"We all know Porsha does very well," she continued, "She's very succesful, and Dennis is successful... Between the two of them, Pilar is set. For life!"
Shamea felt that Drew's remark was "a dig," and that as Porsha's friend, she "felt the need to defend her" against that kind of comment by making it public. Kelli backed her up on that, declaring, "You should have!"
The two agreed that mentioning the college fund was inappropriate. Shamea also joked that some members of their group must have "amnesia" to remember events the way they do.
Plus, the duo hopes that PJ will one day attend "Harvard or Stanford," and cheekily said that Porsha should just send that bill directly to Drew.
