Molly-Mae Hague’s sister Zoe Rae has slammed Bali on socials, and the influencer’s worried she’ll be dragged into the drama
For many, a trip to Bali is considered a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, but Molly-Mae Hague’s older sister, Zoe Rae, didn’t see her recent trip to the Island of the Gods as such. Zoe’s now facing serious backlash after criticising the holiday destination in a recent YouTube video – and not just from fans.
According to sources, Molly-Mae, 26, isn’t happy with her sibling’s admission. They tell Closer, ‘Molly is cringing a bit, but trying to stay graceful. She’s not mad – she just finds it embarrassing. She’s super protective of Zoe, but she did roll her eyes when she saw the Bali video. Zoe’s always been more blunt than Molly and that contrast is showing now.

‘Honestly, Molly’s more worried about the brand deals than the backlash. Bali is big with influencers – it’s basically the holy land of influencer content. Saying it’s overrated is like slating Paris during Fashion Week. Zoe’s comments were unscripted, but Molly’s world is all about control, with curated visuals and carefully worded captions. People will be asking and checking if Molly shares her sister’s views.’
In the controversial video, Zoe, 29 – who previously served in the British Army Medical Corps but chose to become a full-time social media influencer like her sister in 2023 – claimed, ‘Unfortunately, Bali wasn’t really the right fit for us, with how we intended to spend our wedding anniversary. Since landing in Bali, something for us has just not felt quite right.
‘We came to Bali with high expectations as we’d seen on social media – everyone having such a lovely time, such gorgeous places to go for food and lovely beaches, lovely gyms, lovely coffee shops. If you took a picture of the coffee shop and zoomed out, you would see what the reality was. I don’t think the reality of Bali is shown much, or at all.’

Despite Zoe – who tied the knot with husband Danny in July 2024 – claiming that ‘a lot of people are saying that’s where they went and they felt exactly the same’ in the upload, she’s faced a lot of criticism.
As well as some of her followers branding her ‘pretentious’, Bali locals have reportedly demanded that Zoe and her husband be ‘blacklisted from entering Indonesia’ after making the island look bad.
Travel agent Yuli Budi Santoso even added, ‘I think we should all report the video and get her account suspended.’
