Only two episodes in, and Below Deck has made it clear: Chef Lawrence Snowden isn’t going to last—at least not through another charter. In a clip shared by Bravo, Chef Lawrence quits and Chief Stew Fraser Olender has a proposal who he thinks should come in to save the culinary day – Anthony Iracane.
Of course, Chef Anthony isn't a clear-cut choice, especially for Captain Kerry Titheradge, who ended up firing Chef Anthony last season when he became too overwhelmed to work on St. David. But, in the clip, Fraser is seen making a case for hiring Chef Anthony back and Captain Kerry seems intrigued.
'Below Deck' Viewers Saw the Chef’s Departure Coming From a Mile Away
Prior to episode 2 of Below Deck's 12th season, viewers could sense some tension in the galley. Chef Lawrence was off. We've certainly come to understand that the stressful, high-stakes world of yachting is not for everyone, but rarely have we seen anyone so willing to pack up their knives the moment something goes wrong. During the season premiere, Chef Lawrence experienced some malfunctions with his equipment and nearly lost his temper.
As he was snapping, the cameras were rolling, and that was not what he wanted to deal with in the moment. He continually broke the fourth wall, discussing the pressure of doing his job with a camera crew present, but hey, isn't that what you signed up for? Perhaps Chef Lawrence was always meant to be a temporary placeholder until the intended chef was able to join the crew, but any viewer could tell that Chef Lawrence was not long for the season. Now there's a very good chance the beloved Frenchie could be returning! Fraser wants him back, but does he really return?
Chef Anthony Deserves a Redemption Season
Season 11 was an interesting season for Chef Anthony. While we at home can only imagine how delicious his food was, if the testers on board were any indication, he is a culinary magician. But like Chef Lawrence, Chef Anthony found some flaws in himself as he tried to keep up with the fast-paced world of fine dining on a mega yacht. As the season went on, he started to falter, lowering his product quality and causing the galley to fall into complete disarray. Fraser did everything he possibly could to help him, but it was not enough, and Chef Anthony was dismissed.
With the story lining up perfectly for an opening on board, it's Fraser who advocated for Cheffy's return. With some apprehension from Captain Kerry, he seemed warm to the notion of giving Chef Anthony the redemption he deserved. Captain Kerry may end up having no choice but to re-hire Chef Anthony especially if Anthony is available to join the boat at a moment's notice. But, has he gotten more experience since leaving St. David and will he be able to manage the constant pressures of working as a solo chef on board the massive boat? Maybe someone could call in Below Deck Down Under sous chef Alesia Harris to pitch in and help? But maybe, just maybe this time Chef Anthony won't need support and rocks this season alone. Tonight's episode will be a game-changer!
Below Deck airs Mondays at 9:00pm on Bravo. All episodes are available to stream on Peacock.
