Detroit Lions OT Penei Sewell Goes Viral on Thanksgiving for Vicious Stiff-Arm vs. Bears
There's one thing that NFL fans love more than anything: Thanksgiving football and offensive linemen toting the rock.
They got both things early on Thursday afternoon, with Detroit Lions right tackle Penei Sewell making waves on social media after taking a double-reverse and looking to throw the ball downfield against the Chicago Bears.
Before he could get a pass off, though, Sewell was hit with the Chicago rush. Instead of taking a sack, Sewell viciously stiff-armed a defender to the ground before ultimately being taken down by four Bears.
The play ultimately resulted in a loss of one yard, but the memes that have come from this single event will last a lifetime. NFL fans on social media quickly stepped up to the play and let all of their jokes off.

The hilarious fact of the matter is that this play also resulted in one of the greatest stats of the 2024 NFL season. After this play, in which Sewell was technically sacked, he has now been sacked more times than he's allowed as a right tackle this year.
While the play from Sewell might have been the highlight, the game between the Lions and Bears absolutely delivered. Detroit won 23-20, but the game ended with some fireworks as Chicago ran out of time on the clock following some incredibly poor clock management form Matt Eberflus and Caleb Williams, with a last-second pass falling incomplete as time winded off of the clock.
The Lions improved to 11-1 on the season with the win, while the Bears fell to 4-8.
