Denise Richards filmed new reality show because she 'needs money' after ex Charlie Sheen dropped child support

Denise Richards allegedly only agreed to star in her brand new reality TV series on Bravo because she 'needs the money.'

The show, Denise Richards & Her Wild Things, follows the 54-year-old actress, her husband Aaron Phypers, and her three daughters Sami, Lola and Eloise, as they navigate the complexities of blended family life.

However, it's been claimed that Denise only let the cameras into her home because she is 'cash strapped' following her departure from Real Housewives of Beverly Hills - and also the lack of child support from ex-husband Charlie Sheen.

Back in October 2021, a judge ruled that Charlie no longer had to pay his ex-wife after their daughter Sami - who has apparently made $3 million on OnlyFans - moved in with him.

Speaking to The US Sun, a source revealed: 'The only reason she's doing the reality show is the same reason she's doing her Only Fans - she needs the money.

'She never in a million years thought Charlie would file to stop paying child support and she was blindsided when the court ruled against her.'

The insider continued: 'Then Bravo let her go from RHOBH and suddenly all her biggest incomes were off the table.

'She still acts and gets money from smaller projects but it's nowhere near what she was making five plus years ago,' they divulged.

'She's been more cash strapped and she probably wouldn't have even done the show if she was in a better place financially. Denise only filmed it for the paycheck.'

However, the source added that since filming the episodes, Denise is 'happy' with the final result and is also pleased that she's been able to 'control her own narrative and be the author of her own story.'

Denise shares her two older daughters Sami, 20, and Lola, 19, with Platoon actor Charlie.

The girls were just 14 and 13 when he first filed to terminate all child support in December 2019, and Denise did not not file any paperwork in opposition.

When the judge ruled in his favor in October 2021, Charlie had already had 100 percent custody of both Sami and Lola since April of that year.

The judge stated that zero child support would be reflected retroactively to April 1, 2021, when Charlie started taking care of the girls full-time.

'I think what transpired today is extremely fair.

'It speaks to not just today, but it speaks historically to that same fairness,' the actor told US Weekly following the decision.

Denise Richards announces filming has begun for reality show

Denise and Charlie married in June 2002, but by March 2005 she had filed for divorce and sought a restraining order against him, alleging death threats against her.

Their divorce was finalized in November 2006 and Charlie was ordered to stay 300 feet away from his ex-wife and their daughters, except during supervised visits.

By mid-2012, the former couple were on good terms and in May 2013, in a move supported by Charlie, Denise was awarded temporary custody of the twin sons born in 2009 to him and his wife Brooke Mueller, after the children were removed from Brooke's home by child protective services due to concerns over drug use.

Speaking about that particular situation in a recent interview with People, Denise said: 'I'm grateful we were able to help them during that time.'
