Davante Adams Reveals What Could Have Prevented His Raiders Departure - suong

When the Las Vegas Raiders traded for wide receiver Davante Adams, there was hope he would be a key player in helping the franchise return to prominence.

That wasn't the case, and during his two-plus seasons in Las Vegas, the Raiders were 16-24 and failed to make the playoffs. Adams still put up impressive numbers, making 37 starts with 221 receptions for 2,869 yards and 23 touchdowns.

When it became clear that the Raiders needed a rebuild, Adams requested a trade, which led to him moving on to the New York Jets.

Now, though, on the "Up & Adams Show," he revealed that if the Raiders had drafted quarterback Jayden Daniels, he may never have left.

“I mean, the kid’s just sitting in the pocket dialing it up, waiting for stuff to develop, hitting open receivers, and then running the ball and running through people and doing a little bit of everything,” Adams said. "It looks completely just like his Heisman year. This is exactly why I wanted him in Vegas. I don’t know if I would have ever had to leave Vegas if he, if we would have been able to make that happen.”

It wasn't meant to be because Daniels went to the Washington Commanders with the No. 2 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, while the Raiders had the 13th pick.

It's not surprising to hear that a player like Adams would want to play with the young star after the season Daniels had.

In 17 regular season starts, Daniels completed 331-of-480 passes for 3,568 yards with 25 touchdowns, nine interceptions and a 100.1 passer rating. He was also amazing running the ball with 891 yards and six touchdowns.

Daniels has led the Commanders to back-to-back playoff wins, and they will face the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday in the NFC Championship Game.
