Craig Stirs the Pot: Unveiling Austen and Taylor's Past with Far-Reaching Consequences - lulu

On the Southern Charm After Show, Craig Conover opened up about the status of his friendship with Austen Kroll, explaining that he feels frustrated by the lack of support Austen has shown him in recent years.

He specifically called out Austen for not being more encouraging of his desire to drink less, telling Madison LeCroy that he feels like Austen only wants Craig to be his "bar buddy."

"He means well and wants to be a better person, but he doesn't have the discipline yet to make the hard decisions for like longterm," Craig said.

To further illustrate his point, Craig brought up Austen's kiss with Shep Rose's ex-girlfriend Taylor Ann Green on Season 9 of Southern Charm, which caused a multitude of issues within the friend group.

"Like, he thought in that moment [about] what he wanted to do instead of the longterm consequences. And then when he dealt with the long term consequences, he was like, 'I never meant anything like this to happen. I would never wanted to hurt you,'" Craig reasoned.

Why Craig blames Shep for some of his problems with Austen

Craig went on to suggest that Austen hasn't grown up because he is a "chameleon" who mimics the people he spends time with — like Shep.

"I know that when he's hanging out with me a lot, he's doing better," Craig asserted. "And yeah, that might sound conceited, or it is conceited but when I'm gone and he starts to hang out with Shep too much, his behavior does change."

Madison agreed with this notion, adding that she's "seen it," but she still stands by her belief that Austen is a good friend to have by your side.

"At the end of the day, I think you know that he'll always be in your corner, whether you hear it as good or bad, just depends on if you wanna tolerate it at the time," she said.

Craig acknowledged he was just venting and that he still has hope they can get their friendship back on track, saying, "I love Austen and I'm not going to give up on it ever. I want it to work out."

Austen's take on his friendship drama with Craig

Austen ultimately agreed that he wants to to work things out with Craig, but also noted that he feels like he's constantly "walking on eggshells" around him.

"I think that Craig's admission to me was brave and I was appreciative of it but I'm like what about all the other things? What about your rage problems? What about that?" Austen reflected.
