Craig Conover has gained some “clarity” since his breakup with Paige DeSorbo.
The Southern Charm staple appeared on Monday’s (Feb. 17) episode of The Tamron Hall Show, during which he admitted he would’ve ended up “losing” himself if he moved to New York City to be with DeSorbo, who ended their relationship after three years over Thanksgiving weekend.
“She, in her heart, knew it wasn’t the right life for me, either. The city is not for me,” Conover, who was planning to move to the Big Apple before DeSorbo broke up with him, said in the interview. “I want to live at the beach and have a backyard and a garden.”
“She’s got so much to look forward to in her career and I would’ve ended up losing myself because I would’ve given up everything to stay with her. The blessing is, as we’re a couple months out, I see that now,” Conover added, noting that he wants to “raise kids” at his house in Charleston.
Conover also addressed DeSorbo’s claim that she caught him texting two other women while they were dating in a shocking preview for Summer House Season 9.
“It was disappointing to see the direction that her and the show went because, I’m just grateful for the three years of a relationship that we had. It was really great. I’m 100 times better version of myself now than I was and I think she is too,” Conover said. “I’ve never cheated. I think the best thing you can have in a relationship is that security, not worrying what your partner’s doing. So, no, I wasn’t. But you can’t control other people.”
The Sewing Down South founder — who said there was “no infidelity” from either party — speculated that DeSorbo would “take that back” once things “calm down.”
“She got a lot of backlash for the breakup, which I was disappointed at,” he said. “At the end of the day, she fell out of love. I wasn’t the right person for her and I think that’s OK.”
As for the future, Conover said he “won’t date someone” unless he can see himself “marrying them.” And while he did sign up for a dating app, he has yet to talk to anyone he’s matched with.
“I’m still healing on myself, because I really did think I was gonna spend my life with Paige, and it’s OK, but I don’t think rushing into something … Well, I don’t know. If the right person comes around,” he said, while Hall pointed out that he was giving “mixed signals.”
Conover, however, said he was “just figuring out” his “weird” new norm.
