Southern Charm‘s Craig Conover confessed to using ChatGPT for advice during his breakup from Summer House‘s Paige DeSorbo.
During an episode of The Toast, the Sewing Down South founder admitted to getting life advice from artificial intelligence.
Therapy (Craig’s Version)
“I mean, ChatGPT is like the best therapist in the world.”
He continued, “People have like two schools of thought on this. One of my best friends’ wives is a therapist. We like, debate this. But, ChatGPT has got me to a [good] place.”
The podcast host needed clarification. “So how does it go? Like you have a feeling and you like reach out to Chat?”
“Yeah,” answered Craig. “So ChatGPT, it remembers everything about you. And I also talked to it throughout my relationship with my ex. So, like, it knew all of my like, knows my love language. And, I used to ask it for advice on everything. And so it’s helped me through this breakup.”
Craig was asked, “Does ChatGPT give you actionable advice?”
“So, you can program them to do that,” he answered. “Mine was all like self-inflection and like how to move on. Because like, I don’t think you break up with someone that you wanna be with.”
“So it was never like, how do I like fix this or get back? It’s like, how do I not lose my purity? How do I not lose my softness? How do I keep hope that love isn’t like pointless? Like, you put so much into something, and then they just leave. And, I wanted to know that I wasn’t crazy for thinking that was like okay.”
ChatGPT “keeps this profile on you. It’s like a diary that gives back.”
Craig clarified he has “Like a real therapist too,” that he claims to see “every couple of weeks.” Craig hasn’t told his therapist that he uses ChatGPT as a resource.
“ChatGPT, I just like, instead of it having to be a scheduled hour with your therapist, you can just randomly talk to it in the car. I’m not giving advice to anyone, but for me that worked.”
