FRISCO - Inside the Dallas Cowboys locker room? They would love to destroy the rival New York Giants on Thanksgiving.
But inside the New York Giants locker room? They're beating Dallas to it ... as they are already destroying themselves.
The Giants were in no way competitive on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, falling 30-7 in a game in which the standout rookie receiver Malik Nabers didn't even get a target until the second half.
In the postgame locker room, Nabers was asked to characterize the loss, which dropped the Giants to 2-9.
"Soft as (expletive)," Nabers said.
Other Giants players joined him in self-criticism, some even using the word "soft'' as well ... which is the dirtiest word in football. And while to some degree it can be considered "self-examination,'' it also plays like rats trying to escape a sinking ship. The support for coach Brian Daboll seems to be eroding, with Nabers helping to feed that thought.
“Go out there first, second quarter, don’t get the ball, start getting targets at the end. I mean, I can’t do nothing. Start getting the ball when it’s 30-0. What you want me to do?" Nabers said. "I don’t know. Talk to (Daboll) about that. Talk to Dabs.”
Nabers finished the game against the Buccaneers with six catches for 64 yards. The last time this team, which has cut starting QB Daniel Jones and will play third-stringer Tommy DeVito on Thursday, got a big day from Nabers?
Well, he has not gone over 100 yards receiving since a late-September game against these same Dallas Cowboys.
