Cowboys might be tipping their hand on next position they want to improve upon with latest newsThe Dallas Cowboys appear to be looking to bolster their edge room with some bargain talent.

On Tuesday, the Cowboys signed ex-UFL linebacker Willie Harvey Jr ., and now the team has plans to work out edge rusher Derick Roberson -- another former UFL star -- according to Pro Football Network's James Larsen.

Roberson is no stranger to the NFL after having played short stints for the Tennessee Titans (2019-2021) and Houston Texans (2022).

In four NFL seasons, Roberson saw action in 16 games with one start, logging 26 career tackles, 4.5 sacks, and one forced fumble.

Roberson is fresh off a solid 2024 season in the UFL after recording 31 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and four tackles for loss for the DC Defenders.

As for Willie Harvey Jr., he won the UFL Championship with the Stallions, and finished the this past season season with 3.5 sacks, one tackle for loss, two forced fumbles in 10 games.

Roberson Would Face an Uphill Battle to Make Cowboys' 53-Man Roster

If Roberson lands a spot on the 90-man roster, he faces an uphill battle to make the final one.

The Cowboys initially had a glaring need at edge rusher heading into the 2024 NFL Draft after veterans Dorance Armstrong and Dante Fowler found new homes in free agency.

But they ended up addressing the issue by selecting a small-school guy with huge upside, Marshawn Kneeland, in the second round of the draft.

Kneeland enters the NFL after starting 23 games as an edge rusher for Western Michigan where he racked up a total of 148 tackles, 27.5 tackles for loss, 13 sacks, three passes defensed, and three forced fumbles.

In addition to Kneeland, the Cowboys already have Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence in starting roles with Sam Williams, Viliami Fehoko, and Tyrus Wheat to back them up.

While Roberson's chances of making the 53-man roster might be longshot, it's always good to have an extra body competing at the position in order to spice up training camp battles.
