The Washington Commanders booked their spot in the NFC Championship Game after a barnstorming 45-31 win over the Detroit Lions at Ford Field.
In a game where both sides of the ball contributed to the win, with the offense putting up 45 points and the defense getting five takeaways, it was a full team effort from the Commanders.
The cohesion of coach Dan Quinn's team has been a feature all season long and the belief in one another is a driving force in Washington advancing this far in the postseason. ... all of which has "DQ'' reflecting in ways that should sound very familiar to Dallas Cowboys fans.
“This was a really cool team win, that's what playoff football is about,” Quinn said. “I thought like this was one of those games, everybody in the building contributed to winning. It was short week of getting the guys ready from a training and medical staff, hitting on the road, to go battling in the environment, it was everything about putting the whole group together ...
"So it was really cool.”
Quinn's presentation style is a familiar one in Dallas, where he was a part of three 12-5 seasons and playoff berths in 2021, 2022 and 2023 before he left The Star to move to DC.
The Commanders' first season under Quinn and rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels continues to go far beyond any expectations that were set back in preseason, and now the team is on the doorstep of what would be an incredible Super Bowl appearance.
Of course, just getting into the playoffs is a huge feat, especially considering the franchise won just four games in 2023. To now win 12 regular-season games and two playoff games, it has been a superb season.
But as Terry McLaurin stated, "We're not done," and you can bet that the Commanders will be giving everything they've got next week as they look to continue this remarkable season with yet another stirring win. ...
And you can bet that some Cowboys fans will consider "DQ'' the one that got away as he continues to reflect on his "cool'' move.
