Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy ‘embarrassed’ by tablet slam in Atlanta loss

Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy walks off the field after an NFL football game...FRISCO — A moment that captures the frustration the Cowboys feel in this 3-5 start took place during the team’s latest loss.

The Cowboys faced a fourth-and-one early in the second quarter when Mike McCarthy called a jet sweep with receiver CeeDee Lamb. The blocking broke down and Lamb lost yardage, giving the ball back to Atlanta with a short field.

The Cowboys head coach responded by slamming his tablet to the turf.

“Thank you for bringing up an embarrassing moment,’’ McCarthy said before making it clear he didn’t want to make a joke about the incident.

“I’m embarrassed by it. It’s something that at my age, clearly, is no excuse for. That’s not what I represent. I’m embarrassed as a leader of this team. That’s something we all talk about emotionally and discipline through all different spots during a contest, too.

“And frankly, as a husband, as a father, as a son, as a brother, that was definitely a moment that I wish I had back.’’
