FRISCO - The Dallas Cowboys came out of the bye week refreshed and confident in the changes made on both sides of the ball.
But it was a false dawn and an eventual 30-24 loss at the Niners on Sunday night.
In the first half, the Cowboys "looked" a different team. They halted the 49ers' offense, not allowing rushing yards, and the offense scored 10 points to San Francisco's six.
But in the second half, particularly, the third quarter, things fell apart ... and badly. The 49ers scored 21 unanswered points; Dak Prescott threw a back-breaking interception that left the Cowboys swimming against the tide.
While CeeDee Lamb and Prescott did their best to get the team in a position late to win with two touchdowns, it would have been highway robbery had Dallas managed to win.
And for Lamb, he offered his thoughts on what was yet another loss to San Francisco.
"Really sucks especially coming here three times, the last three years lost to them,” Lamb said. “Sickening.”
While the "sickening'' loss (a fine one-word description from CeeDee) had few positive aspects, one was the uptick in performance and chemistry between Lamb and Prescott.
The duo connected for seven passes in the first half for 48 yards before Lamb took off in the second half to finish with 13 receptions for 146 yards and two touchdowns.
And CeeDee is confident things will get better between the pair.
“Yeah, we're about to get this thing rolling, we're about to get this thing for sure,” Lamb said.
In truth, the "sickening'' 3-4 Cowboys will need Dak and CeeDee to be the driving forces behind any type of revival because, in truth, who else can?
