Viewers will know that actor and comedian Jack Carroll joined the ITV soap earlier this year as Bobby
Coronation Street star Jack Carroll has been supported by his co-stars as they watched him celebrate a major recognition away from the cobbles. Viewers will know that the actor and comedian joined the ITV soap earlier this year as Bobby, the nephew of Weatherfield favourite Carla Connor.
The son of Rob Donovan, who is currently serving life in prison for the murder of Tina McIntyre, showed up at Carla's flat much to her surprise and after speaking with her imprisoned sibling, Rob explained he was unaware he had a son until recently but hadn’t managed to let Carla know.
Bobby has since made himself comfortable living with his auntie and landed himself a job at her factory, Underworld. However, he's recently been wrapped up in finding out what has happened to new love interest Lauren Bolton after she suddenly disappeared with the case now a murder probe that Bobby has misguidedly influenced with a false statement, back by Carla.
But before joining Corrie, Jack wrote and starred in his own comedy short, Mobility, and back in March, the former Britain’s Got Talent runner-up was thrilled to discover it had been nominated for a Bafta TV Award.
Weeks on and the 2024 ceremony took place on Sunday night (May 12) with Jack among the famous faces making his way to London's Royal Festival Hall where the who's who of the small screen united in force to celebrate the past year in TV.
And it was great news for Jack as Mobility picked up the prestigious gong for Short Form. Sharing a picture of himself in the emptying auditorium with his golden trophy in his hand, the soap star wrote on Instagram: "Better add BAFTA winner to my CV. Absolutely honoured and astounded."
His Corrie co-stars were among the first to share their delight at Jack's news with Jude Riordan writing: "Amazing Jack." Alex Bain shared: "Incredible news man! MASSIVE CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU." Claire Sweeney replied: "This is just fabulous." Paddy Bever and Elle Mulvaney both responded with celebratory emojis before Colson Smith joked: "Can I borrow it?"
And his followers were also quick to respond. @staceyclairehl said: "So proud of you!! This is brilliant." @the_cjpeacock commented: "Amazing work Jack." @jobartlett85 wrote: "Fantastic, well done Jack." @angpatellis replied: "Fabulous Jack!! Well done." @gigglesandgames added: "Amazing! Congratulations!"
But Jack also didn't do it alone as he said in his social media post earlier this year in which he first spoke of Mobility's nomination: "Huge thanks and congratulations to co-writer Tom Gregory, director Akaash Meeda and producer Sam Ward as well as the brilliant cast and crew and David Simpson and Tiger Aspect and the BBC."
