Coronation Street fans think they have figured out a 'plot twist' in the Lauren Bolton storyline as Nathan Curtis' involvement was 'confirmed'. It's been several years since Nathan was last seen on screen in the ITV soap after he was jailed for grooming Bethany Platt as part of a sex trafficking ring.
But as the investigation into Lauren's disappearance - and suspected murder - continues, Nathan's unlikely appearance shook Bethany to the core. The recently returned character, played by Lucy Fallon, was disbelieved by her boyfriend Daniel Osbourne when she said she'd seen her former abuser during the reconstruction of Lauren's last movements.
So when Nicky Wheatley called round and revealed that she was off to meet a girl called Ellie who was groomed as a teenager and might have information
about Lauren, Bethany followed, adamant that they must all know about Nathan.
She ended up disrupting Nicky's chat with the vulnerable woman, mentioning Nathan and that she knew what she was going through. Ellie ran away and Nicky was furious that she jeopardised her position of helping sex workers but Bethany was still convinced that Nathan was hiding something to do with Lauren.
During Friday's (May 10) Corrie, Nathan's release from prison was confirmed with Bethany headed to the building site nearby. She confronted Nathan about what she thought he had done to Lauren and as he denied any wrongdoing and threatened to call the police, she stole his phone and soon headed for the police station after realising he had an O-Vidz account and had subscribed to teenager Lauren's account.
Whilst Bethany was convinced this was proof he killed her, DS Swain revealed to her that Nathan had attended the police station voluntarily and denied he had attacked or killed Lauren. He explained that he had had an alibi for that night, leaving the police no choice but to let him go, much to Bethany's despair.
Daniel and Adam Barlow were then later seen having a word with Nathan, now going by the name of Joe, while Bethany was later seen logging into his O-Vidz account after taking his details and was horrified to see him arranging to meet someone, who responded saying they couldn't meet him because they were 'grounded'.
And Corrie fans were quick to take to social media as they believe this 'confirmed' Nathan's involvement with Lauren, and they also think they know his 'accomplice'.

@RyanTheSoapking theorised: "Wouldn't suprise me if Nathan didn't do things by the book when it came to his release This is why I think he used Joel to help with his release hence the cover name " Joe or Joel" Nathan should have got longer in prison after what he did to Bethany. #Corrie." @CaroleAnn1982 added: "Perhaps Nathan is Joel's twin and he borrowed his ID to get a job... #corrie."
